Do you need to present a more professional image for your home business?

Sometimes, home business owners do not realize that certain things about the way they run their business can present an unprofessional image to potential clients, partners, or even employees. These issues can end up losing you business and costing a lot of money. However, a lot of these things are fairly simple and inexpensive to fix!

When I used to make sales calls, I would usually meet at a client’s home or office. Some potential customers wanted to come to my office. I hardly could invite them to sit at my kitchen table though, especially during hours when my kids were home. I actually lost a lot of business that way.

There were other problems with having a home office. I hated to give out my home phone or office for press releases or advertising, and sometimes I passed up opportunities because of this problem. When I wanted to train other team members, or give a presentation, I lacked a conference or meeting room.

These issues lost me business, but they were actually simple and inexpensive to fix! A cheap virtual office solution gave me many of the same benefits that a permanent office would have given me. And I got it for a fraction of the price I would have had to pay for rent!

I also realized I had not covered my small business properly. Instead of just relying upon my personal policies, I need to investigate small business insurance. There were affordable alternatives. I love working out of a home office. I would have to estimate that it meets my needs 90% of the time too. However, that 10% was probably costing me a lot more than 10% in revenues and security.  If you home business needs a few simple changes in order to grow, why not figure out how to make them?
